Kailasagiri is a hilltop park in the city of Visakhapatnam. The park was developed by Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA) comprising of about 380 acres of land covered with flora and tropical trees. The hill, at 360 feet (110 m), overlooks beaches, forests, and the city of Visakhapatnam. The Government of Andhra Pradesh awarded Kailasagiri as "Best Tourist Spot" in 2003. On average, around three hundred thousand Indian and foreign tourists visit this spot every year.
On the day we were there we saw a rapid change in the climatic conditions - from a foggy morning to a bright sunshine in the afternoon. The photographs of the view of the Bay of Bengal from the hilltop bear testimony to the effect of the rapid change in the weather pattern. This place is essentially a tourist spot and folks come here with family and friends to spend some time and enjoy the scenic beauty.
