During our visit to the Napa Valley in California USA we had the opportunity to stop by at the Bouchon Bakery in Yountville for breakfast. Our ultra energetic niece Sabita - endowed with an inexhuastible reservoir of energy and hospitality who was driving us around in California suggested we go to this place on the basis of her past experience. So after a quick shower, coffee and check out we headed out to this place by about 7 am for a half hour drive. Well just a bakery we thought where we could buy a few items of our choice and keep moving. Bu what we saw was a total surprise and awe inspiring. By the time we reached the place there was line up of people patiently waiting to get in to buy their favourite items for breakfast. The bakery does not have any formal dining space. You buy what you want and come out. There are tables outside the bakery in the open surrounded by green tress and flower beds and one can enjoy a delicious breakfast in the midst of nature's greenery. Oh how heavenly to be there amongst the lush greenery with the early morning sunshine giving you the right degree of warmth against a mild Californian chill when the smell from the hot coffee wafts towards you as you are savouring the heady aroma of the cinnamon rolls and the utterly butterfly soft croissants that melt in the mouth. We were so happy and delighted that we came here. One of the best places to savoir gourmet bakery products. Next time you are in USA and in California do not forget to visit the Bouchon Bakery.
As we walked out of Bouchon Bakery and went a little ahead we saw a name plate which said "French Laundry!. Well this is not exactly a laundry - hold your breath this one of the one of the most exclusive and expensive restaurants in the USA. I am told by knowledgeable sources that bookings are made a year in advance and the estimated cost for a dinner for two is in excess of USD.800.00 which is pretty whopping by US standards.
I am presenting a few photographs of Bouchon Bakery and the French Laundry. The French Laundry had not opened at that hour in the morning. The next time I am there will certainly try to make it out for dinner there - after all it is just 800 bucks - no big deal!!
