During my last visit to Bengaluru I had the occasion to venture out on many photo walks which served the dual purpose of giving me the much needed exercise as well as satisfying my my craving for photography. During these walks I happened to come across many street food vendors who had set up brisk business and seemingly doing very well. I took the opportunity of talking to them and engaging them in a conversation. These are ordinary people with meagre means but with unlimited thirst for getting out of the rut and securing a good future for them and for their families by honest effort and hard work. Their life, tribulations and aspirations form separate stories by themselves.
These eateries operate only for a few hours in the day - hours that are chosen for the maximum business output. The ingredients are brought to site based on statistical averages. To me the process of laying out the ingredients, the pre preparation, the mixing of the batter, dropping the stuff in the hot oil and getting the right degree of colour and fry were fascinating sights - not to speak of the heady aroma!. The stuff must have been real good considering the crowd at each outlet and the cl amour. At the end of the day it was a total sell out! I have tried my best to capture the essence of the scene that was in front of me and present a few photographs in this album.
