Nakki lake is a very picturesque and a beautiful spot located on the Gujarat - Rajasthan States border but just inside Rajasthan State. It is very popular with the locals and the tourists who flock to this place in droves. It is called by this name because it was dug out from Nails (Nakh).

One story is that it was dug by Gods to live there in safety from the trouble created by Bashkali rakshash (a demon). The other story goes something like this: There was a sculptor by the name Rasiya Balam at the Dilwara Jain temple. The King had decreed that whoever dug a lake overnight would receive the hand of his daughter in marriage. The sculptor dug the lake as required by the King. However, the marriage could not take place on account of the opposition from the Queen. The temple of Rasiya Balam and Kunwari Kanya (an unwed maiden) is located behind the Dilwara Jain temple exists there even today in mute testimony to this story.
