Araku is a famous hill station in one of the Southern States of India known as Andhra Pradesh. at is located at a distance of 120 kms from the Eastern port town of Visakhapatnam or Vizag. It is famous for its scenic beauty. Located on the Eastern ghats, it has valleys, water falls, and streams flowing by the side of the train track or roads. Lots of scenic beauty spots, flowers and vegetation. The journey to Araku is enjoyable and breathtakingly beautiful. It is better to go to Araku by train and return by road. However, as we were a part of a photo travel group we went by road both ways as organized by the tour operator. Araku Valley is one of the least polluted and less commercialized tourist destinations of South India. The average elevation at Araku is about 900 meters.
Araku is also popular for its coffee plantations. India's first tribal growers organic coffee brand was first launched in Araku Valley in 2007. The premium organic "Araku Emerald" brand coffee sells globally. Thousands of tribals in the Agency area are engaged in coffee cultivation as farm hands or small farmers.
This place offers unlimited opportunities for landscape, nature and people photography and especially of the tribals who live in these areas on the borders of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha states.
We spent a wonderful week with a bunch of very talented and enthusiastic photographers who seemed to have infinite energy for photography. Very lively and enthusiastic bunch.
This is fifth album and consists of photographs of the people in their natural habitat. All photographs were taken in the limited time available on the go.
