Zenfolio | Shankar Adisesh | Gujarat Album # 7. Sun Temple at Modhera. December 2015
18 photos

The Sun Temple of Modhera is dedicated to Hindu God Surya and is said to have been constructed during the reign of King Bhimdev of Solanki Dynasty in 1026 in the village of Modhera, Gujarat State. The temple architecture is of indescribable beauty and intricacy and in many ways similar to the architecture of the Sun temple at Konark, Odisha State. The various pillars and walls are sculpted with panels and icons depicting scenes from the ancient Hindu classics - The Ramayan and the Mahabharat.

Enjoy the pictures.
