A contemporary Bharatanatyam dance ballet titled “Na Maargam” (Not the Path or Knot the Path) performance was held at the Music Academy, Chennai, India on December 05, 2013. This dance ballet was performed by four senior disciples of Prof. Sudharani Raghupathy (Priya Murle, Krithika Subrahmaniam, Priya Dixit and Prabha Dixit who are all highly talented and accomplished Bharatanatyam dancers) to honour the 65 years of her (Prof. Sudharani Raghupathy) association with Bharatanatyam and also in aid of ABHAI (Association of Bharatanatyam Artists if India).
The costume, music, choreography, lighting, the design of the sets and the experience of the artists all blended seamlessly into one great show that brought unalloyed joy to the audience who were riveted to their seats.
To quote Rupa Srikanth who wrote in “The Hindu” of January 13, 2013
“Team Na Maargam led by its mastermind, musician-percussionist K.S.R.Anirudha, and dancers Priya Murle, Krithika Subrahmaniam, Priya Dixit and Prabha Dixit (son and senior students of Professor Sudharani Raghupathy respectively), experimented with standing the Bharatanatyam repertoire on its head.”

I had the good fortune to watch this show and take a few pictures which are presented in this album.
