This temple referred to as Chandikeshwra Temple would give an impression of being a Saivaite (followers of God Shiva) temple since Chandikeshwara is closely associated with God Shiva.

However this temple has a lot of carvings and icons of Vaishnav (belonging to God Vishnu) representations such as Hanuman, Garuda, Balakrishna, Srinivasa etc which gives the impression that this temple was originally dedicated to God Vishnu.

It was observed that the idols have been stolen thru a hole dug in the sanctum sanctorum and in many places the temple has been unfortunately damaged and vandalized.

None the less it was fascinating to be here in this small temple and once again the opportunity to admire the intricacies of the Vijaynagara architecture.

Enjoy the pictures.
