Araku is a famous hill station in one of the Southern States of India known as Andhra Pradesh. It is located at a distance of 120 kms from the Eastern port town ofVisakhapatnam or Vizag. It is famous for its scenic beauty. Located on the eastern ghats it has valleys, water falls and streams flowing by the side of the train track and roads. Lots of scenic beauty spots, flowers and vegetation. The journey to Araku Valley is enjoyable and breathtakingly beautiful. It is better to go to Araku by train and return by road. However as we were part of the photographic group we went by road both ways as organized by the programme organizers. Araku Valley is one of the least polluted and less commercialized tourist destinations in South India India the average elevation is about 900 meters.
Araku is popular for its famous coffee plantations. India’s first tribal growers’ organic coffee brand was launched in the Araku Valley in 2007. The premium organic "Araku Emerald" brand of coffee sells globally. Thousands of tribal in the Agency area are engaged in coffee cultivation as farm hands or small farmers.
This place offers unlimited opportunities for landscape, nature and people photography especially of the tribals who live in these areas on the borders of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.
We spent a wonderful week with a bunch of talented and enthusiastic photographers who seemed to have infinite energy for photography. Very lively and enthusiastic bunch.
This album is all about the various people living in the hamlets in the valley and a glimpse into their life.
