Keshava Temple, Somanathapura, Karnataka State.

This temple is an outstanding example of the Hoysala architecture and art. Intricate and fine architecture on soap stone seen at the Keshava temple, Somanathapura, Karnataka State. Said to have been initiated and built by Somanatha Dandanayaka, a General in the army of king Narsimha the third. The General requested funds from King Narasimha the third to set up a temple in honour of Vishnu and an Agraharam in his native village of Somanathapura. The request for funds was granted and Somanatha Dandanayaka proceeded with the work of establishing this magnificent temple which is a treat for the eyes and the soul. The temple is said to have been completed in the 13th century around 1258 CE.
