Swarnamalya is a multifaceted personality and also an outstanding Bharatanatyam dancer. Over the years, she has anchored several shows, acted in films across various languages and performed at many stages all over the world. She received the award 'Yuvakala Bharat' at the age of 17.
She is a graduate from MOP Vaishnav College where she was the student President. She went on to do her PG Diploma in Acting and Direction from
San Jose State University,
California,
USA. She also has a
Masters in
Bharatanatyam and
Ph. D in
Dance History from
Madras University.
She received initial training with Smt. K. J . Sarasa for 10 years, and had her further learning with Bhagavatulu Sri. B. Seetharama Sharma of
Kalakshetra.

Swarnamalya is a highly qualified, experienced, talented and an accomplished Bharatanatyam dancer and these were evident in her performance that evening.
She has started and presides over an institution called “Ranga Mandira” – School of Performing Arts and Research in Chennai for imparting knowledge of arts and culture and for training aspiring dancers of the Bharatanatyam art form.
